Bankampu Tropical Cafe

Went there for a friend’s wedding and the atmosphere was lovely, even though the weather was humid and hot. One thing to watch out for is the floor, which is a bit slippery. If you’re in heels, maybe don’t trust your luck too much.

The staff were friendly, the food and drinks were solid, and everyone spoke English well, which made things easy. I also liked seeing the crimson rosella flying around freely instead of being stuck in a cage. The only downside for me was that smoking isn’t allowed, even though there’s plenty of space between the tables.

It’s a nice escape from the downtown mess, but weekends can get packed fast, almost like everyone showed up at once. If you can, go on a weekday or early in the morning. The creamy pasta and coconut cake were both really good, so at least the food makes the trip worth it.

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was a pretty relaxing spot, with plenty of wind and lots of seating. The little cottages with tables look handy if you want to work on a laptop, and the chickens wandering around are oddly charming. I didn’t try the food, but the cakes were nice, while the drinks felt a bit plain.
