Baan Somtum Sathorn

Good food, clean space, and no long wait — that’s basically the whole story here. The staff were friendly enough, and the restaurant felt roomy without being cold. Having parking right out front was a nice bonus.

This spot felt efficient from start to finish. Orders are taken on a code sheet, which is a little quirky, and the kitchen doesn’t waste time getting food out. The dishes were tasty, though a touch pricier than some similar places, and the room was full by the time we left.

Baan Somtum has that modern look, but the food is firmly in the Northeastern Thai lane. The pomelo som tum was a nice first try for me, and it was fun watching the staff make the som tum right in front of diners. If you like heat, it’s probably worth mentioning how spicy you want it.

We stopped in because the place was nearby and the ratings were solid, and it turned out to be a pretty good call. The food came out fast, the meat was cooked nicely, and the squid was satisfying too. Service was a bit reserved, but the restaurant was busy for a reason.
